The Perry Fletcher Award

The Perry Fletcher Award

In 1993 Perry Fletcher the famous Engraver and leading artist donated a magnificent plate to the VVGA to raffle and provide funds for the Association. The Council decided that it was too valuable to part with and introduced the Annual Perry Fletcher Award to be presented to a veteran who had made an outstanding contribution to Veteran Golf in Victoria, the plate would be held for 12 months.

This award has been presented each year at the State Championship since 1993 and there are now 17 recipients.

After handing the plate back there was no long term acknowledgement of having won the Award so Perry was commissioned to create a badge that can be worn with pride

The picture (right) shows Perry with his portrait which was entered for the Archibald Prize and below the new creation to be introduced this year. All recipients will receive a badge enclosed in a nice case and suitably engraved. Several winners have passed on and the award will be given to their Family.
